I'm currently developped a new web application : a Universal Remote Explorer, code name is "Http Explorer".

Based on a Virtual File System for the server business and Ext (YUI-Ext, now called Extjs) for the GUI, I hope providing an ajax app, working on all browsers, enabling users to access different file systems (local, FTP, remote http, sql, svn, cvs, ...).
GUI is similar to Windows Explorer. Navigation will be enhanced by using Ajax technology. No heavily reload the page just to rename a file.

Main features :

• Navigate through differents file system and exchange datas between them (ex: copy a ftp file to cvs file system)
• Extended Upload (normal upload, archive uncompressed on the server - idea is coming from net2ftp)
• Smart sync (edit files on your computer, changes will be automatically submitted to server ; only under Mozilla browsers, ie Firefox)
• Edit text files using WYSIWYG editor (FCKEditor, tinyMCE, codepress, ...)
• View files online using thumbnails for images
• Architecture will enable users to manage plugins (choose your favorite WYSIWYG editor, or add a video player)
